Since its establishment in 1974, and now for over 40 years, the Hawaii Japanese School (more commonly known as Rainbow Gakuen) has been educating children in Hawaii with a mission to foster internationally minded students who can serve the critical role of bridging the United States and Japan. About Six Hundred students are currently enrolled at Rainbow Gakuen and learning in Japanese on Saturdays. In the rich cross-cultural and natural environment of Hawaii, our students are educated and nurtured with not only language skills but also with high sensitivity and open-mindedness to cultural differences and similarities. We feel confident that individuals with such traits will be greatly sought after in the increasingly globalized society.
